New mall in Buena Park?

Local media reported that a new outdoor shopping mall is set to open in Buena Park in 2014. The new shopping center, which has been dubbed “Source at the Beach,” is under construction at the corner of Orangethorpe and Beach Boulevard – right off the 91 Freeway.

Source at the Beach will be a dining and entertainment complex, which will feature restaurants, a theater, shops and a motel. It will be a little over a mile away from Buena Park Downtown, the other mall in Buena Park.

Developers Don and Min Chae of M&D Properties built the Plaza Mexico, a shopping center in Lynwood that uses Latino themes. The developers intend to apply some of these themes to the Source at the Beach.

Spokespeople for Source at the Beach said it will not be competing with the Buena Park Downtown mall, because it will offer different entities.
